in my ears XVII

Run Run Run by Celeste Buckingham
Excellent vocals and very catchy song. I heard this in a Goodwill a few weeks back and shazamed in and the rest is history. It's my go to running song.

The Worst by Jhene Aiko
I used to not actually like her voice, and I'm still not a huge fan but her songs are so real and relatable. I feel like she's singing for all us independent yet co-dependent ladies out there.

I'm With It by Aer
Y'all know I've been in love with Aer for forever now. Their new album came out about a month ago and it's really impressive actually. This song was not my favorite initially but now it just gets me so hyped and I love it. I'm With It.

As Much As I Ever Could by City & Colour
This song is really old but someone posted this performance of it on tumblr and I fell in love with his voice. It reminds me of Bon Iver a little bit. And the lyrics are just perfect.

Evidence by 2AM Club
Yet another band that I have been obsessed with for forever. I just want to see them perform live so bad. This song has really grown on me.

in my ears part XVI

3005 x Childish Gambino
I freaking love this song. And I am so excited for his album.

Motel Pool x Travis Garland
I actually discovered this song while watching a performance of this guy dancing live. The dance was fantastic. And I fell in love with the song and Travis' music in general. He is so beautiful and his music is sensual and fun and wonderful.

Do What U What x Lady Gaga ft R. Kelly
I am actually really liking Gaga's new music. I've never been a huge fan but this is my jammmm.

Flaws x Bastille
Dan's voice is flawless. Period.

School x Calvin Harris
This song is the perfect walking to class song. It's upbeat but still chill. Loooove it.

Heart Beats x Johnnyswim
I literally just discovered them but I really love their voices. So haunting yet soulful.

Bones x Lewis Watson
He's like a young Ed Sheeran, even though they're almost the same age haha. This song is so freaking cute and simple and wonderful.

in my ears part XV

Flirt (Acoustic) by Zak Waters
His voice is so lovely and his songs are very sexual but I don't mind ;)

Every High Has A Comedown by Anarbor
I've actually been listening to this song for awhile now and I'm just now warming up to it. I've loved Anarbor for forever and Slade's voice on their acoustic tracks is just so rough and raw and amazing.

Go Stupid 4 U by Robin Thicke
I know that his new album has gotten a lot of criticism for promoting rape culture. And being a budding feminist I do have a problem with that. But the songs are so catchy, I can't help it.

Anything At All (Acoustic) by Air Dubai
THIS SONG! THIS BAND! They are incredible!! And the rapper is so freaking cute. Their songs are such a phenomenal blend of rap and pop and rock and and r&b and electronic it's fantastic. This acoustic version is so great man.

All Day by Air Dubai
Again more Air Dubai. This is my favorite song by them. It's so chill and cool and just perfect.

Latch (Discloure) Acoustic by Sam Smith
I honestly have no words for how incredible this song is. His voice is the most magically perfect voice I have ever heard. I've played this song for many people and they are all blown away by his talent. If you like this, check out his song Lay Me Down. It's out of this world.

Everlasting Arms by Vampire Weekend
Okay, I used to be obsessed with VW but they took so long to come out with a third album and my musical ADD took over and I kind of forgot about them. Their album came out in May and I just started listening to it last month. It's actually pretty good. This is my favorite song off of it as of now.

Tom Ford by Jay-Z
Of course I had to have a little MCHG on here. This song is perfect driving music. Or at least for me.

He Won't Go by Adele
I don't know man, one day I randomly started listening to Adele and I happened upon this song and the rest is history.

This Disorder by The Features
I heard this song on the radio a couple weeks ago and fell in love. It's kind of simple but with some really cool quirks.

Sweet Love (Anita Baker Cover) by Beyonce
I was watching the Beyonce I Am World Tour and fell in love with her version of this song. I wish they had it available on mp3.

in my ears part XIII

so it's been quite some time since I last blogged. I'm not going to sit here and make excuses, all I know is that I'm here now and I have some wonderful music to recommend.

Pull Me Down by Mikky Ekko
THIS SONG. THE LYRICS. HIS VOICE. EVERYTHING. LISTEN NOW.

Lost at Sea by Zedd featuring Ryan Tedder
The only reason I initially listened to this song was that I kind of like the song Clarity and I LOVE Ryan Tedder. And I'm am so glad I gave it a chance. This song is so catchy and wonderful. And I just love everything about it. It's my favorite song to sing in the shower and while driving.

The Other Way by Rainy Milo
I stumbled across her music on a tumblr blog, which had a link to her FREE EP. I listened to her song Bout You and fell in love. She reminds me (and I hate to say this because Lauryn Hill is a LEGEND) of a young, British, 2013 Lauryn Hill. Her voice is shockingly good and her lyrics are really relatable considering I am a teenage girl, just like her. I'm pretty sure she's 16 or 17 sooo. So good though, so good.

White Picket Castle by Theo Katzman
This song is actually kind of old, but it is brillant nonetheless. Please do yourself a favor and listen to his album Romance Without Finance. It's too good. Anyways, I don't know there's something about this song that really resonantes with me. I think the part where he says "there are some who will always let you down, there are some who will chain your feet to the ground" is just so relevant in my life these days.

Morgan's Bay by Goldroom
I honestly don't even know how I discovered this song, but it's really chill and great. I love the last minute. This song reminds me of summer and riding around with the windows down because I do not have air conditioning haha.

Not Tonight by Elle Varner
Where do I even start with this song? Listening to it brings tears to my eyes. There is so much raw emotion in her lyrics and voice, it kills me. Not to mention it's my life story, like damn. This song has honestly become one of my favorite songs of all time in the past few months. It helped me rediscover my love for soulful music and I cannot thank Miss Varner enough for what her music does to me. It's beautiful. Simply beautiful.

Patience by Dave Moisan
Dave Moisan is probably the most precious human being on this here Earth, and his music is equally adorable. And the boy can saaaannng. So much soul and talent. It's wonderful.

Pussy is Mine by Miguel
Okay, I know this song is really vulgar and gross, but it's actually really good. It's so low key and the lyrics are amazing most of the time. And his beautiful voice is showcased here. Trust me, give it a chance.

I cannot even begin to explain how much I love this song. And this band, OHMYLORD. You can't help but to bump your head to this song, it's amazing.
For fans of vampire weekend, foster the people, young the giant.

super rich kids by frank ocean
let's be real..."coming out" was one of the best things that happened to frank ocean's career. it made him  more relevant, so more people checked out his album and ended up loving it....but anyways, this song is hella dope. Another head bobber.
For fans of the weeknd, odd future, kanye west

wasted years by maroon 5
So i'm not a huge fan of the direction that maroon 5's music has gone in the past few years, so when i discovered that this song was originally supposed to be on Songs About Jane (their first album) I about died. Definitely sounds like something that would be on their old album. And I love it.
For fans of onerepbulic, justin timberlake

pull my heart away by jack penate
This song is a few years old, but I just discovered it via pandora about a month ago. his music is so tropical and lovely.it's perfect.
For fans of the macabees, friendly fires

multi-millionaire by penguin prison
Ahh, my favorite song by him. It's so, I don't even know how to describe it. His voice is so interestingly good. love love love.
For fans of monarchy, holy ghost!, capital cities

chasing echoes by the lonely biscuits
oh gosh every time I listen to this song I fall deeper and deeper in love with john p's voice. he sounds like an american version of james morrison. and gravy is very analytical, which is refreshing. very chill music. excellent and original.
For fans of cris cab, aer

fixin' by walk the moon
once again a FABULOUS song by the AMAZING walk the moon. this is slowly becoming my favorite song by them. this one is more of a knee shaker. and the lyrics, oh man. the instrumentation alone is incredible. this song is my heart and soul.

where i sleep by emeli sande
I think she was a vh1 you oughta know artist? I don't know I saw her video "next to me" and I kind of liked it so I did a quick listen to her album and lovvvvved this song. it's so simple yet powerful. her voice is perfection in this song.
For fans of v.v. brown, rebecca ferguson, leona lewis

floats my boar by aer
This song is...well it is what it is. It's about chillin, being laid back, and not taking shit too seriously. It's a summer anthem. And it doesn't hurt that carter is completely precious.
For fans of mac miller, chiddy bang, timeflies

warrior by kimbra, mark foster, a-trak
You all know how much I love foster the people, so when I saw that kimbra (another artist I adore) and mark foster did a collaboration, I was like "whaaatt?!?!?" also I saw the video and I was like "whaat?" but it's a pretty cool song.
For fans of kimbra, a-trak, foster the people

  the pocket by andy grammer
his music is so sweet and precious. It makes you feel good inside. the lyrics are wonderful and catchy, what's not to love?
For fans of ben rector, eric hutchinson, parachute

why am I the one? by fun.
if you don't know their song "we are young" clearly you are NOT from this planet. I remember watching their video for "all the pretty girls" a couple years back every morning on mtvU. And I remember back when I first heard we are you in 2011. why the continue to play this song well into 2012, i am not sure. but anyway, why am I the one definitely showcases their new sound, which is a little less quirky than their old album. but the lead singer nate's voice is still quirky and cute so don't worry.
For fans of the format, young the giant, neon trees

bitter moon by zulu winter
reminds me of young the giant but british, and with a little more atmosphere. if that makes sense. a hazier version, i guess. definitely and up and coming band, indie tribal pop is going to be big.
For fans of funeral suits, walk the moon

that sunset by the lonely biscuits
such a chill summery song. lots of visuals going on here. john's voice sounds lovely as always and gravy is killing it. so chill, so perfect.

light up tonight by alex boyd
this song actually came out last august. and he was supposed to come out with an album. where that album is now, i don't know. but this is an excellent song. nothing like a little blue eyed soul to brighten your day.
For fans of robin thicke, justin timberlake

soooo, I haven't posted anything in a VERY LONG time. Mostly because I don't have a ton of time to sit down and write a quality post and partly because I'm too lazy be inspired. So yeah. This isn't going to be much of a post either. just more music!

All Time Low by The Wanted
I really love these guys, I pretty much fan girl over them sooo...But this is a really good song if you're into their kind of music.

Over You by Graffiti6
Oh man, I love this song. And his voice. And his face. Nuff said.

Wanna Dance With Somebody by Allstar Weekend
So I've been obsessed with them for the past month, and I'm sorry but this song just makes me really happy whenever I listen to it. And it's a nice homage to the late Whitney Houston (RIP)

Gimme A Kiss by Madi Diaz
I actually discovered this song on Amazon's free downloads (which is sometimes an excellent source of good music, so I HIGHLY suggest you check it out). But anyways, this song is so cute and peppy and wonderful.

I love Ed Sheeran so much, he is such a good lyricist, it's ridiculous. (see what I did there?) This song, and basically every song of his, touches my heart. His talent is beyond belief.

I can not even begin to explain my love for these boys. I was surprised to discover that I haven't blogged about them before. But if any of you have seen my tumblr, you're well aware of my love for them. This is my favorite song by them, even though I love pretty much every single song on their album, Torches. If you don't know Mark Foster, Mark Pontius, and Cubbie Fink by now, then you're pretty late.

p.s. I'm going to see them in OCTOBER!!!!

Another band I absolutely adore. And they're also coming in a few weeks, but they're opening for the goo goo dolls(who I have no desire to see) and the tickets are $40 :(
But anyway, I LOVE this song, and their new album. It's fantastic.

Literally just discovered these guys two days ago, and I can't get enough. I had heard of them before, but I didn't bother to listen to their songs...But then I saw the video for "Hawaiian Air" (LOVE THAT SONG) and I was intrigued. I listened to all of their songs and loved pretty much all of them. This songs has an amazing groove...And the lead singer has some pretty sick dance moves that never fail to amuse me.

I haven't invested a lot of time into listening to his music, but this is probably my favorite song by him. Mostly because Chiddy Bang is in it and I ♥ them.

I stumbled upon this song while watching a wedding video on youtube...I had heard their song "polite dance song" before and thought it was okay. But I pretty much fell in love with this song.

Houdini by Foster the People
YES I will put another FTP song on this post. They're so good I wish I could just put their whole album on this post. This song is AMAZINGGGGGGGGGG. just saying.

so anyways, I hope you all will discover your next music obsession from this post/playlist.
I have some REALLY good posts coming for you very soon. Probably in about 2 days !

Turning Tables by Adele
Very beautiful and meaningful song, her voice sounds so raw.

Cross My Heart (Acoustic) by Marianas Trench
Just discovered these guys a couple of weeks ago. I've pretty much fallen in love with their music...if you like this you should listen to All to Myself or Beside You

Dance With Me Baby by Ben Rector
Okay, so, He is seriously the most precious singer-songwriter alive. Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure he wrote this for his now wife. And I love it. Oh, and he has this other song called Hank, which i think might be about his nephew or something, it's too cute. All of his songs are fantastic.

Up Up and Away by Kid Cudi
Not gonna lie, I haven't been much of a Kid Cudi fan up until like a week ago. Still not completely sure about it : /
Anyway, this song somewhat sums up  how I feel about school and such right now. I 'm just like whatever, imma do me, and everyone else can do whatever. my philosphy is to not give an eff.

Ride to California by Paper Tongues
Lol, this is a great song to run to. Makes me want to move or jump or something. And I love the vocals on this, so good.

MoneyGrabber by Fitz & the Tantrums
Great song, the lead singer sounds like Daryl Hall to me...but maybe i'm crazy?
